Why we partnered with Sequoia

We announced today that we raised $18 million from Sequoia Capital. This announcement means that PlanGrid is here to stay, and we’ll be growing our team to help better support our customers and bring them more of the features they love.


What does this mean for our customers?

  • Long-Term Stability: This round of funding gives us the freedom to expand capabilities and grow ahead of need. In addition, our new board member Doug Leone’s experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow.
  • Improvements and New Features: We are aggressively hiring as many talented designers and developers as we can to help enhance our platform, expand our infrastructure and roll out the new features you’ve been asking for.
  • Unmatched Customer Service: Customer service has been a key pillar of PlanGrid from day one. In addition to developers, we are expanding the number of support representatives available to help you, should you ever need assistance. We are also growing our customer success team nationally so you will have PlanGrid expertise available in your local area.

What does this mean to the construction industry?

As an industry, construction has been historically unambitious about the management of construction information. The existing database solutions and paper copies of key project information have directly contributed to negative productivity growth in construction.

As a company, we’ve only made a small leap forward, but are already making huge impacts. There’s still a lot of work to do when it comes to making the industry more efficient, and we’re confident that being a well-capitalized company will help us get the job done. Our fight is just starting, and we couldn’t be stronger with the help of our new business partner, Sequoia Capital and Doug Leone, by our side.

Why did we start PlanGrid?

In 2011, we quit our jobs to bridge the gap between good software and the construction industry. We put a beta of PlanGrid into the hands of 40 users, mostly folks we had worked with in the field. Today we are trusted by over 10,000 customers, having helped build over 200,000 construction projects. With PlanGrid, our clients are starting to see what might be possible when the construction record set is at their fingertips and every decision made in the field is in sync with home base.

We are a company that cares deeply about the builders who dedicate their whole lives to the construction industry. To us, it is a privilege to be able to build great tools that our users love and utilize in the field every day. Just like our customers, we will not stop working — and we will never stop building great software to make their jobs easier.
