PlanGrid’s 2nd Annual Axe Contest

PlanGrid’s 2nd Annual Axe Contest

The response to our 2nd Annual Axe Contest was even better than the first! PlanGrid received more than 800 entries filled with pictures, comments, compliments, and suggestions. We are always excited to hear from our users and see what you are building with PlanGrid. Choosing a single winner was almost impossible.

We’ve been announcing our winners on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Here’s a recap of this year’s winners if you missed them:

Grand Prize Winner — Jayson Delacruz, Sunny Isles, FL

PlanGrid provides instant access to every drawing/submittal/RFI for our project from ANYWHERE! Our guys in the field were hesitant at first when they were told they would be learning how to use tablets and new software but PlanGrid is so simple and user friendly they all love it.

1st Runner Up — Matt Hoey, San Francisco, CA

As a third party consultant acting as Owner’s Representation on multiple jobs, it blows my mind that we have actually performed this role for so many years without the instant and unfettered field access to all drawings, specifications, RFIs, and issues that PlanGrid provides. Like a weld joining and strengthening once independent components together, the comments/communication features within PlanGrid are in my view, the unseen heroes of the platform that help to formally narrate project progression and expedite issue resolution.

2nd Runner Up — Nic Holzhauer, St. Paul, MN

2nd Runner Up — Nic Holzhauer, St. Paul, MN

The Minnesota State Capitol is a historical landmark and architectural masterpiece. Originally constructed in 1905, this awe-inspiring 110 year old is undergoing a major renovation and restoration that touches nearly every foot of both the interior and exterior of the building. Looking for a way to best organize and maintain over 1,500 construction plans and countless documents of specification and clarification, general contractor JE DUNN has turned to PlanGrid. Over 150 field and office personnel on the project use PlanGrid every day to stay on top of rapid design development. It gives the entire project confidence that all project documents we’re working with are current and organized. What a pleasant change from the days of swapping out hard-copies! We love how much more simple PlanGrid has made our document management and will definitely continue to use it!

3rd Runner Up — John Ford, Denver, CO

How HASN’T PlanGrid helped me may be an easier questions to answer! Ever since the first job I was exposed to PlanGrid I have been pushing for its use on every job after, and have used it with more and more success each time. In the pictured project, DIA-HTC, we had an extremely difficult jobsite with a ton of challenges. Four major GCs were in the area trying to complete 600M+ worth of work, our scope of replacing 6 bridges around the airport (traffic nightmares!), adding two new ones and completing all the infrastructure work for the hotel was tough, especially when you had the hotel going up right in the middle of everything! PlanGrid helped to take an unmanageable amount of drawings, over 3000, and made sense of everything. The filing structure and being able to tag drawings made finding what you needed a snap, plus the ability to push RFIs and notes to the field instantly let you know you always had the best, most up to date information possible! I can’t even begin to explain how much time PlanGrid has saved me, this allows me to be more efficient than I ever have, which allows me to run work more effectively as well as being a better leader and mentor for my teams. Thanks to everyone at the PlanGrid team for bringing the construction world into the future with some very innovative, and easy to use technology!

4th Runner Up — Kyle Hlebak, Cleveland, OH

PlanGrid has helped myself and our company in countless and invaluable ways. PlanGrid is a simple-to-learn program for older field contractors and superintendents who may have trouble understanding today’s technological advances. PlanGrid also saves time and resources when issuing drawing sets and revisions to subcontractors. Instead of wasting time resources printing multiple drawing sets upon each revision, with the simple press of a button one can instantaneously share drawing sets, revisions, and other various construction documents.

My favorite PlanGrid feature is the ability to complete punch lists in a timely fashion, with interactive features, all on one user-friendly interface. Credit: Artography Studios and Press.
